Needed a 4th of July decoration for my door. I love the patriotic images on the A Childs Year cartridge. This is the result. Love the way it came out. This is the first time I have attempted to distress with ink. I will need to work on that technique a bit.

Children are cut from A Childs Year cartridge.

The phrase is cut from Jasmine cartridge.

Easter Card

Happy Easter!

I don't have a cartridge with a cross cut out, so I opted for the bunny tag from A Child's Year. (Love the tag feature on that cartridge!)

I used a dark purple for the tag, it felt Easter-y to me, and then used a pale peach to back it. A simple stamped message and a few pale pearls to finish it off!

Garden Journal Mini Album

My mom is an avid gardener. I am an avid scrapper. I also just got a bind-it-all and the Mariposa DCWV stack. So what happens? A garden journal mini album!

The green ribbon is attached to the back cover so that even when it is untied to open the journal the ribbon won't fall off or get lost.

Cards in the envelope are for keeping notes on when seedlings are started and when things are planted in the garden.

I love this page. The last tag in each stack in attached to the paper. The others are just held together with the brads. This allows them to be fanned out or stacked. My though with this page was that she could take notes on bugs that attacked the veggies and how she delt with them.

The secction that says seed notes is an accordion fold that pulls out into 6 square boxes for taking notes on seeds.

The tags are attached and can be used for notes and the envelope on the right page can be used to store notes or to hold pictures of the garden.

You always need a place to store Misc info!

A final page for more notes and an envelope to keep pictures of the garden and her favorite flowers.

The end (with a nice pocket for a few more notes or pictures).

Birthday season

Spring means birthday season for me. Between my family and my husbands family we had 6 birthdays to celebrate. I didnt' have a chance to blog the cards individually so this is a multi-project blog.

This one is hard to see. But it is a penny slider card. My first attempt, and I was very pleased with how it turned out. I should have made a video of it. (Maybe next time.)

This is my first accordion stand up card. I love the stickers (from my stash) and the paper is the new DCWV Celebrations stack.

This is my favorite of all the birthday cards. This is my horizontal stand up accordion card. I made a zig-zag support on the sides of the frame so that the green frame stands out about a 1/2 inch from the paper. I then punched a hole in the top center for the frame. Threaded a cute paperclip through and hung the cake from it. I don't know if you can see it in the picture or not, but the cake is full of stickles for lots of extra sparkle!

This is a stand up card (see picture below to see the stand up feature). Simple and fun. I love the digi stamp (I have many on my computer, but this is the first time I have actually printed and used one.) The particular stamp is a Dustin Pike digi. Family "tree"

I haven't posted in over a month. I have done bits of crafting here and there, but this time of year is so busy with hubby working overtime and just me and the little one at home. Doesn't leave much time. However, I stayed up way past my bedtime on Saturday night and did this little project. It was an idea I saw online and tweeked to meet my needs. I LOVE how it turned out.

The frames are just a simple black frame set from Kohls hot glued into a layered collage. (You can't see it in the picture but they are stacked so they sit at 3 different levels to give it depth) The vinyle is cut on my cricut. The word family is from Jasmine Font cartridge and the branches and tree truck are from Serenade.

(Don't mind the empty frame with a post it note. :-) I am waiting for a print from my sisters wedding just a few weeks ago.)

Immortal Love Mini Book

It is a work in progress. I went to JoAnns and bought the Immortal Love DCWV stack before the big midwest blizzard hit and spent about 6 hours working on this so far. I LOVE the roses the ladies at the DCWV booth wore at CHA and I watched the DCWV YouTube tutorial video to learn how to make them. Not very hard... and they turn out SUPER COOL!

So here is a sneak peak for now. I go back to work on Monday, no more snow days...

So this is it for now, I will make a new post when I complete the album.

Anniversary card

Just a quick and simple anniversary card for our friends 50th anniversary.

I used pop dots behind the ring to give to front just a little dimension.

Abby Caddaby Birthday Card

For my neighbors daughter's birthday. Thought a shape card would be fun, I haven't played with Sesame Street cartridge for awhile and Abby seemed to be the perfect way to "wish" her a happy birthday!

I didn't take a picture of the inside but I have a great stamp that says "Wishing you a marvelous birthday!" and is surrounded by little stars. I stamped it in bright pink.

I went a little crazy with the stickles. But I can't help it. They are so much fun and they really look great on projects!

There is a blizzard (like a for real blizzard, I'm not hypeing it up) so I bunkered down in my craft room and started creating! My dad is an avid bicycler so I wanted to make him a mini album where he could write about some of his biking adventures and keep little momentos of his various treks.

I found this Recollections paper about 2 months ago on clearence at Micheals and I knew it would be perfect for it.

I wanted to make something for my friend who is having a baby, but I didn't want it to just be a card, I wanted to make sure that it was something that could be used and enjoyed for awhile.

Scalloped shapes and the letters were cut from the Once Upon A Child Cartridge, I embossed the small white layer with my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.

Christmas 3D scene!

This was a fun one, and only took about 15 minutes! But it isn't foldable, so it turned out to be less of a pop up card, as originally planned, and more of a 3D pop up scence.

All images were cut from the Christmas Cheer cartridge. The trees in the back were embossed to add texture, the mustache and hat trim were applied with pop dots to give it some demenstion. I used paper tabs behind the Santa's and two of the trees to make them stand out from the trifold. The stars are strung from the ribbon and attached behind the santas with glue dots.

More paper doll scenes

My niece requested more paper doll background scenes for Christmas. I have been going crazy making these sets for her. I LOVE the paper doll cartridge! She has a full set of paper dolls and also a fairy tale castle scene.

I was hit with the Christmas spirit and decided to make a nativity with all the characters as well. I love this one. I think I am going to make one for my daughter as well.

Non-paper project

At times I set down the paper and glue and pick up another material to craft with. I have been wanting to make new stocking to go with my Americana/Primitive decor for quite some time now. I found the time and in a few hours over two days time this is what came out.

Haunted House

I started with the haunted house from the October 31st cartridge.I added yellow behind the windows to make it look like someone was home. Then accented the doors and roof lines with purple and of course a bit of stickles because sparkles make everything better. :-)

I was having some much fun I decided my house needed a yard and some spooky trees!

And of course, a haunted house is not complete with out some bats flying out of the top.

I cut off one of the branches and moved it to the front so the tree was a bit more 3D. I do have a raven on the front branch of the tree, but it is hard to see. In hindsight I wish I would have cut it in a dark gray so that it contrasted a bit better.

Scrapbook pages

I got a 3 hour block of time to scrapbook today. I was heavenly! I worked on my daughters pages.

This is rather simple. I might add one or two small pictures. The paper and stickers are Heidi Grace.

Same with this one, I just feel that it needs more. I love the concept though. Maybe a journal spot and some stickers will finish it off. Guess I will have to head to the store! (Yippee!)

Still need to add the journaling spot to the bottom corner. But this would have to be one of my favorite pages i've ever made. Heidi Grace paper and bumble bee sticker. Cricut Pooh font cart for both the words and characters. Pooh and Eyore were cut at 2 1/2 inches. So some of the parts were so little that I had to use a tweezers to pick them up and glue them down!

Turkey Time!

Thanksgiving is drawing near. Thought I would make a few cards up to send to people that I don't see on this holiday.

Turkey from the Create A Critter cartridge. The paper was left over from last season. (I believe it was DCWV?)

Inside I used a $1 Micheals stamp. (I get in trouble in their $1 bins!) Just simple leaves falling to add to the all theme.

Mini album

I am catching up on my scrapbooking. This is a mini album from our July vacation. I love mini books. They really give me a chance to go all out and use multiple papers/stickers/themes allin one book. But at the same time I don't bog down my large 12x12 scrapbooks with multiple pages from one event. I win both ways!

Skunks from Create a Critter

This is a close up of the waves. They are cut from Alphaballo and then stickled. The Mom & Me lettering is drawn with markers on the Cricut. and is also from Alphaballo.

All the stickers are from my stash. I've had them for a long time and cant remember where they are from.

Finally, this is the fron t cover. I cut the letters from chipboard and then covered them in paper.I layers and glue the letter together tho create the word cover then added the embelishments.

Made a few more scrapbook pages. I want to stay as current as possible with my daughters book as possible. These are a just a quick glance at the newest pages I made.

Say cheese!

There is a empty space in the middle, I stil have to add my jounaling spot there, but at least the page is put together. Plaid paper is DCWV, and the phrase, mouse, camera, and cheese all came from the Create a Critter cart.

Yummy Watermelon!

I think every kid has to have one of these pages. The paper is DCWV. I love that the watermelon is pink instead of the traditional red. I used Doodle Charms to cut out the large melon slice and the border. To keep the light fun feel of the page I wrote the journaling spot in white pen. Such a fun page to make!

Bubble Bath Queen.

The always popular bubble bath pictures. I did a very simple layout here. The paper was cute (a freebie from a friend, don't know the brand, sorry) I wanted to show off the ducks so I did a simple mat and tack job then added two duck stickers. Sometimes simple works very well.

Elegant Birthday Wishes

I wanted to make some more elegant /adult themed birthday cards. I am very happy with the way these turned out.

Two different cards, but they happen to coordinate.

I used the cricut marker to write Happy Birthday, the filled it in with pink Stickles. I really am beginning to love stickels and the versitility they provide!

When I lay two papers together I don't always like the hard line. Tying a ribbon on the line softens it up. I love that this ribbon also says "celebrate".

Having fun with a childs year cartridge.

So here is a usual crafting though process for me:

..I went into my craft room knowing I was going to make cards and not knowing much else. I browsed my cartridges and took out my childs year since it had been awhile and I had some cute ideas. Then I look at my paper. This DCWV paper with the wood grain makes me think it needs to be boy themed. I search and find the cowboy and boy riding a horse. Perfect! Now to pick colors, boys and cowboys... red and brown work. But it needed more. The shape I laid the images on is from the Sweetheart cartridge (cant' remember the name of the shape off hand). Then I decided I needed just a bit more to break up the texture of the paper... Ribbon! The red and white gingham looks prefect to me. I wrapped it around the front, mounted the image on foam tape to float it above the ribbon, then cut the Sweetheart Image shape in both shadow in red then regular size in white. I found that adding coordinating colors and shapes inside the card, instead of leaving it blank, makes me feel like the card is completed....

And that is the end of my strange crafting thought process.

And I now have a set of completed cards.

This is a close up of the little detail that I thought was fun. I inked the edges of the shape. But didn't really like the way it turned out. So I was going to use by blending pen, hoping that it might smear or blend in the ink. It didn't work too well, it actully ended up tearing up the little fibers out the paper, but it made it look like distressed wood, which matched the overall look of the card.

Mom requested I make a wedding anniversary card for Jim and Ange... and what do you know, there is a challenge for anniversary's this week! This is also my very first flip flop card. I like the way it turned out. I will be making more. They are such fun cards!

I used the Sweethearts Cartridge to cut all the images, the paper is DCWV, and the pink ribbon is a Micheals dollar bin grab.

Christmas in July (Layout)

Inspired by all the Christmas in July challenges going on I decided to pull out my daughters 1st Christmas pictures and scrapbook them.

Here is my daughters first meeting with Santa.

I am really excited at how well this turned out. I knew I wanted to use the Night Before Christmas paper. Everything else just fell into place after that. After I got the picture, the word Santa, and the tag for journaling on, it still seemed flat to me, so I added the ribbon to "hold" the journaling tag, and cut some of the key words from a second piece of paper and mounted them on black and raised them with foam tape. That added just enough dimension to finish it off.

I finally put my graphically Speaking Cart to use. When I bought it I was very excited with all the possiblities, then I set it to the side and never used it. I am glad I have it though because it was perfect for this family vacation layout.

This is a close up of the car. It is hard to tell but I glued the tires flat on the page and used foam behind the car to make it pop a bit.

I have been working for two years on redoing my baby book. I originally did it during the late 90's in the beginning of the scrapbooking movement. There were significantly less tools and accessories than there are now. My methods and techniques have improved quite a bit too. I picked a few of my favorites to share with you all.

Dino-Mite Accordion Birthday Card

It the neighbor boys birthday. He is 9, it is getting to that hard age to make cards b/c kiddy stuff isn't cool, but you can't do a "boring" grown up card either. But he seemed really pleased with this one. :-) My first attempt at an accordion card. It was fun! I am going to make more. They really look great once they are all put together.

The dinosaurs, volcano, grass, and plants were cut from Paperdolls Cartridge the "Dino-mite" phrase was from Create a Critter. The front 3 accordion folds were 3/4inch each the back 2 folds were 1 1/2inches.

Let's have a sing... Polly Craft Monday Challenge.

This challenge jumped out at me and I thought this would be easy to find inspiration... I sing to my 9 month old all the time, but suprisingly it took me 3 hours before a song jumped into my head. I finally settled on, "You are my sunshine." My mom sang that to me and I sing that to her so this card came from that.

The sun and clouds were cut from Create a Critter. "You are my sunshine" was written on the cricut with marker using the Jasmine font cartridge. I double cut some of the coulds and put them together slightly off center with some foam tape to add depth.

Poppin' Chalk technique (For fun challenge)

For fun challenges this week is "Popping chalk". I thought I would give it a try. Fun, I will have to work on it a bit and refine my technique. You use a versa mark stamp pad, stamp your image, then use a cotton ball, rubbed in chalk, lightly over the image. They said the more chalk you use the darker it will be. Well, I used way too much chalk.... but it is pretty cool. Once I practice it a bit more I think it will be pretty cool!

My daughter just had her first time in the pool the other day. Couldn't wait to make a page for her scrapbook and the Bitten by the Bug challenge sun challenge came at the perfect time. It inspired this cute layout.

Sun and sand castle are both cut from Doodle Charms. This layout was entered in the Bitten by the Bug 2 doodle charms sun challenge and the W is for Weather from The ABC Challenge .

Paper was from my stash, sorry, no clue what brand it is.

Interactive Flower Pot Birthday Card

It is my sister's birthday and she has a fun personality, which calls for a fun card! I wanted to make an interactive card. I had a gift card for her so I decided to make the gift card pull out of the flower pot. It took a bit of figuring to get it to work. I've seen interactive cards similar to this but have never seen directions. It took a bit of thinking and planning, but it worked well. I'm excited to see what she thinks of it.

All the flowers, butterfly, and "happy birthday" were cut from the Create a Critter cartridge, the flower pot is from Serenade cartridge. Used scrap paper, buttons for flower centers, and double sided tape to stick the card to the pull out flower tab.

Finished the Easter Layout! Perfect timing too. Practical scrappers is having a sticker challenge and I used some cute dimensional/layered Easter stickers that I found on clearence at Walmart. The Easter and flowers at the bottom are cut from the Paper Pups Cricut cart, the grass is from Zooballo, and the polka dot paper is DCWV. The little card in the center opens up and is a journaling spot where I wrote about their Egg hunt and the gifts the Easter Bunny left for them.

Graduation season is coming soon! Now is the time I start making cards for graduations. This is perfect timing too since Paper Cutz is having a Graduation Card Challenge. :-) One card is more neutral colored (for a male) and the second card is bright, (for a girl).

I can't remember the brands of the paper or stickers off hand. These are all materials that I have had in my stock for awhile and just pulled them out.

Ladybug Shape Card

This is my first attempt at making a shape card. I am suprised at how well it turned out! It is actully three layered. The red wings make up layer one, the black body is layer two and the white back of the card makes up the third layer. Goggle eyes and some twisted wire for antenna add a cute touch to the ladybug. :-) Cut using the Doodlecharms Cartridge and entered in the Cute Cardz "make your own" Challenge and the Alphabet Challenge Blog "A is for Animals" challenge.

I was running low on Thank You cards (I always try to keep a few on hand). So I grabbed ready made blank cards that I got on clearence at JoAnn's and pulled out some cute metal thank you embellishments. I chose a seafoam green cardstock to compliment the peach color added some polka dotted ribbon to make a nice transition line between the colors and layered flowers with foam to add some dimension and finished off with a brown button center to match the ribbon.

Thanks a Bunch! I used DCWV heavy cardstock to create this card. The stamp is a Michaels Dollar Bin snag! (So cute!) A few eyelets and some flowers with sparkly centers and we have a cute little thank you card for someone.

For my sister I wanted to make a diffeernt kind of birthday card. Instead of a flat card I made a 3 dimentional bird cage to go along with the theme of her gift. I do have to admit I saw a similar idea on the Cricut message board. But I edited it a bit to find my needs. Everything on this project was cut out on the Serenade Cartridge.

Celebrating a new home!

My brother-in-law and his family were finally was able to sign for their new house. This has been a long complicated process to get the house so I sent this to them as a little house warming celebration poem.

I don't know if the sayings on the bottoms are clear enough to read in the photo. It says, " Not in a bowl... nor jungle tree... but home is where my heart will be."

All the animals and accessories are from create a critter Cartridge, with the exception of the palm tree and the little people next to the house, which are from the Paper Doll Cartridge. (The patterned papers are old scraps, I don't remember which brand.)

Perfect timing for the Polkadoodles Animal challenge. I was looking for a layout idea to use with a picture of my daughter and her favorite stuffed animal, a green monkey! I didn't get the picture on yet, it is being printed at Walgreens today, but I wanted to get this submitted before the deadline.

Recollections paper and stickers, phrase is cut from the Create a Critter cartridge.

Bitten by the Bug 2 Plantin Schoolbook Cartridge RickRack challenge. This was perfect timing since I was working on a Thank you card (in a more masculine colored/theme) and the RickRack added the perfect touch to it.

Info: DCWV paper, Thank you stamp, button embellishments and the rickrack cut from the Plantin school book cart to to draw your eye across and 'anchor' the the Thankyous in the center so they wouldn't look like they were floating.

Paper doll extravaganza!

As I sat down to play with my new cartridges and Cricut Expression I pulled out my paper doll cartridge. I wanted to make a set of dolls for my neice for her birthday. My original intent was just to make a few dolls and hair/clothing then laminating and velcroing them so that the outfits and hair could be swapped out without them tearing. Then my mind just went on and on and I ended up with a whole set up! I can't believe this all came out of my head and I created it in less than 12 hours. The castle scene is made from four 12x12 sheets hinged together with cardstock. The grass folds up towards the castle. When you fold in the dragon side the back has a pocket for the dolls and all their accessories. When you fold the tree side in there are ribbons to tie the two sides shut so nothing falls out. :-) This was entered in the Cricutters Anonymous Challenge #32 All in the Family Challenge. Make something for a family member.

Everything else is from paper dolls cartridge.

The doors on the castle open and close.

The pillars on the castle have 3D foam behind them.

I am very excited. I got a cricut expression for my birthday and 4 cartridges! (Serenade, paper dolls, sweethearts, and create a critter!) and I also got 3 new embossing folders for my cuttle bug and a xyron sticker machine. I can't wait to use them this weekend... I see lots of fun new creations in the near future!

We had a great Easter at my mother in laws so I decided to make her a little thank you. But I wanted to go above and beyond the ordinary thank you card. So I made her a bunch of flowers that would not wilt. They turned out better than I had even hoped.

Doodle Charms cartridge to cut out the flowers (with DCWV glitter paper) and jar. Pooh and friends cartridge to cut out the butterfly. I mounded the stems on cardstock so the bunch would stand up straight.

Hoppy Easter Garland

I wanted to add a bit more to my Easter decor around the house so I went down to the craft room. I knew I wanted something including Easter and bunny, I ended up with this cute garland. I am very happy with how it turned out!

The letters were cut on my cricut with George and Basic shapes font cartridge and the bunny is from Doodle Charms.

And finally... I did some scrapbook shopping and I found some super cute papers made by Recollections. I am excited to do some work with them. I haven't decided if the monkey paper will be cards or scrapbook pages, but the fairy tale paper will make a cute layout for Kait's scrapbook page!

I made a quick Easter card for my Neice. I love this stamp. It is one of my favorite stamps! It is a simple card. I would like to try to add more layers and dimension to my cards in the future, but my work time was limited on this one.

My first "Bitten by the Bug 2" challange is completed!!!

The challenge was a spring project using stamps and of course a cut from the cricut machine. I use my Jasmine cartrige to cut out the "Welcome Spring". I stamped the flowers, butterfly, and lady bug and then hand colored them. I added some light chalk clouds to fill in some of the white space on top. Framed with with a glittered paper from DCWV sweet stack, mounted it on chipboard and added a ribbon for hanging.

My very first attempt at blogging.... Don't really know what I am doing yet. This is a whole new world to me. I was inspired to start a blog after seeing the "Bitten by the Bug 2" blog. I admired all the other people who blog about their creations and I wanted to share my papercrafting creations as well. So off we go......!
